According to reports, the project is currently the largest single-scale photovoltaic power generation project in Sichuan Province, is scheduled to be completed and put into operation in September 2022, is expected to achieve an annual power generation of about 774 million kilowatt-hours, saving 238,000 tons of standard coal each year, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 650,000 tons.


It is worth mentioning that this project is also an "arena" for PV technologies, products and power generation programs, which will be tested many times on different PV modules, inverters, solar mounting, PV storage equipment and technology combinations.


Adequate solar energy resources are the basis of photovoltaic power generation. Ganzi Prefecture, Aba Prefecture and other regions in Sichuan Province have abundant solar energy resources, such as Ganzi Prefecture, where the vast majority of the region has more than 2,000 hours of sunshine year-round, which is the richest solar energy resources in Sichuan Province, and one of the richest solar energy resources in the country.


At the same time of resource endowment, these areas are also characterized by high altitude, high cold and high wind speed, which will have an impact on the operating efficiency of photovoltaic equipment, equipment insulation performance, energy storage equipment insulation performance. Therefore, the world's first ultra-high altitude photovoltaic demonstration base project located in the Dinggong Prairie is of far-reaching significance in accelerating the large-scale development of photovoltaic on the Western Sichuan Plateau as well as the sustainable development of energy in Sichuan Province.


Will the pasture grow better after the PV plant is built? "This is also something we hope to prove. From past practice, PV modules can reduce direct sunlight and evaporation during the day, and produce dew and moisturize the pasture at night." Wu dome said, for the grassland ecological degradation, sandy status quo faced by Ganzi, the project will give full play to the PV modules "can shade, can collect water" characteristics.


In addition, through the supporting water storage and irrigation system, the project will build "power generation, water collection, water storage, irrigation, planting" as one of the photovoltaic ecosystem, and experimental screening of high-quality forage grass varieties suitable for high-altitude pasture growth.


"In Ganzi Prefecture, we also plan to build 13 million kilowatts of clean energy base, hope that in the future, clean energy through the Sichuan-Chongqing 1000 kV ultra-high voltage ring network transmission to the Sichuan-Chongqing land, for the Chengdu-Chongqing region of the Twin Cities Economic Circle to contribute to the low-carbon development.
